The Central Beach Neighborhood
Central Beach is the island's village. Its alphabetical flower and tree streets, from Acacia to Banyan to Cypress, sit within walking, biking or golf cart distance of Ocean Drive, the beach, Riverside Park and the island's cultural venues.
Best for: Buyers who want to walk to dinner, bike to the beach and live in an open neighborhood without gates or club requirements.
Everything Within Reach
Ocean Drive is the spine of the village, lined with locally owned boutiques, sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Humiston Park and the public beach are steps away, and Riverside Theatre and the Vero Beach Museum of Art share Riverside Park on the lagoon side.
Golf carts are a normal way to get around here, and many residents run daily errands without a car.
Homes With Character
The housing is a mix of original beach cottages, renovated mid-century homes and newer custom builds on tree-lined streets, along with condominiums close to the ocean. Riomar's historic club and Old Riomar's oak-shaded grid sit at the north edge of the village.
Farther north along A1A, Indian River Shores adds its own town government and a run of condo and gated communities, from oceanfront condominiums to ocean-to-river enclaves.
