The South Beach Neighborhood
South of the 17th Street Causeway, the island settles into quiet residential streets and established planned communities, close enough to bike to Central Beach but calm enough to feel removed from it.
Best for: Families and full-time residents who want quiet dead-end streets and easy beach access, with the village a short ride away.
Quiet Streets, Close Neighbors
South Beach is known for being family friendly. Many streets end in cul-de-sacs where kids play outside, and neighborhoods tend to be close-knit.
Castaway Cove, with its winding Wave streets and deeded beach access, is one of the most popular family neighborhoods on the island.
Boating and Club Options
On the west side of A1A, areas such as Little Harbour and Oyster Bay offer deep-water docks with direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway.
At the southern tip, The Moorings offers a full country club with a Pete Dye golf course, a marina and a private club beach. South Beach Park gives everyone a lifeguarded public beach.
